The truth is that falling hurts. The dare is to keep being brave and feel your way back up. ~ Brene Brown

Hi everyone! Congratulations on taking the first step in your journey to healing! I’m
Jennifer Malavé, originally from NYC, but I’ve lived in Houston, TX for the last
eight years. I hold a provisional license as an LPC-A currently under clinical
supervision and enjoy working with clients in both school-based and private
practice settings. I received my bachelor’s degree in childhood education from St.
John’s University in Staten Island, NY, (2012) where I would teach for 3 years
before returning to graduate school to complete my master’s degree in School
Counseling at Kean University (2016). Completing my 300-hour internship between
an elementary school and high school, my foundational counseling experience is
rooted primarily with youth and adolescence, where I spent a great deal of time
focusing on individual student planning, building and implementing a school-based
guidance curriculum, and providing system support.

An advocate for raising awareness on mental health and wellness within the BIPOC
community, I am also a passionate LGBTQIA++ ally, who strives to provide holistic
support to all individuals in their healing journeys. Utilizing a client-centered
approach, I work with clients whose experiences include, but are not limited to,
Anxiety, Stress and Anger Management, Work-Life Balance, Time Management and
Organization, Life Transition and Assimilation, Depression and Grief, Infertility,

and Perinatal/Postnatal Trauma or Loss. My down-to-earth and relatable
personality helps clients feel welcome and at ease in all interactions, building a
positive rapport in their therapeutic journey. Given my flexibility and holistic
approach, I favor modalities such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT),
Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Walk-and-Talk
Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).

Originally wanting to pursue a career in teaching and school counseling, adulthood
has taken me through a series of life-changing events that have my impacted
career choices and ultimately led me down the path to becoming a therapist.
Because of these experiences, I can offer clients a therapeutic relationship so
uniquely genuine and relatable, they don’t even feel like they’re in therapy. If
you’ve been struggling with your mental health and wellness, I encourage you to
trust the process! There is nothing we won’t be able to get through together with a
little, faith, trust, and therapeutic pixie dust!
