Hello I’m MJ and I am a career changer! Having served in management across multiple sectors, I decided to return to school to become a counselor after experiencing and witnessing just how challenging changing the course of career and life can be.
I work from a client centered/solution focused approach that helps individuals move forward in a positive and rewarding way. In addition to Career Counseling and coaching, I am also equipped to help manage chronic stress and anxiety utilizing mindfulness tools that can help relax and revitalize, getting you back on track to focus on your ultimate health and well-being. I’m excited to work with you on choosing a life path and/or career that you won’t want a vacation from!
From adolescents to adults, my passion is helping people transition from one career to the next, from school to the workplace, and even from the military to civilian life. I utilize motivational interviewing, career assessments and inventories, and other vocational and therapeutic techniques to help individuals discover their passions and evaluate barriers to change. I enjoy motivating others to take control of their careers and helping them develop the tools necessary to master the career exploration process. I also enjoy working with couples who are pre-marital or considering long term union and navigating the challenges of transitioning life together.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Chicago State University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University. I completed my internship in Career Counseling at Northeastern Illinois University Counseling Center.
